What is an AI song remix?
An AI song remix takes a track you upload and remakes it in another genre. The AI follows the melody, the lyrics and the structure, then plays and sings the whole thing again in the style you choose: a piano ballad, a phonk edit, an EDM festival version, or anything you can describe.
An AI music remix isn't a stem split, a speed-up or a filter laid over the original. Every instrument and the vocal are generated from scratch, so your AI remix sounds like a new recording of a familiar tune. Each one comes in two versions, as MP3s you can download and keep.
Genres you can remix a song into
Start from a preset, then add details if you want, like "1980s, saxophone solo, dark mood". Or skip the presets and describe any style for your AI remix: bossa nova, synthwave, gospel choir, drill.
Piano remixSolo grand piano, intimate and cinematic
Phonk remixCowbell melody, distorted 808s, dark
EDM remixFestival build-ups and a big synth drop
Rock remixElectric guitars, live drums, big chorus
Lo-fi remixDusty beat, soft vocal, vinyl crackle
R&B remixSmooth vocal runs, 808s, slow jam
K-pop remixPolished dance-pop with a catchy hook
Metal remixHeavy riffs, double kick, guitar solo
Acoustic remixFingerpicked guitar, unplugged and warm
Jazz remixUpright bass, brushed drums, crooner vocal
Soul remixWarm keys, horns, gospel vocals
Country remixAcoustic guitar, pedal steel, twang
Motown remix1960s groove, tambourine, backing harmonies

An AI song genre changer: what changes and what stays
Think of the AI song remix tool as an AI song genre changer. It keeps what makes the track recognizable and changes how it's played, so you can change a song's genre with AI without losing what people love about it.
What stays
- The melody you can hum
- The lyrics, line by line
- The structure: verses, chorus and bridge in their original order
- Roughly the original length
What changes
- The instruments and the arrangement
- The groove, the drums and the production
- The tempo, if you pick one
- The singer: a new AI voice, male or female, or no vocals at all
Ideas for your next AI music remix
An AI music remix is a quick way to hear a familiar track in a new light. A few favorites:
- A soft piano version of a love song for a wedding or proposal video
- A phonk remix with heavy 808s for gaming clips and car edits
- A lo-fi version to study or relax to
- A rock or metal take on a pop hit, or a pop hit as a K-pop track
- An instrumental AI remix as a backing track for karaoke, a podcast or a video
- Your demo in three genres, to hear which arrangement suits it
Songwriters use our AI song remix tool the way producers use a demo session: upload a rough recording and hear it as a finished track in a few genres before choosing a direction.
Tips for a better AI remix
- 1Start with a clean recording. One clear lead vocal and little background noise give the AI the best melody to follow.
- 2Keep it under 6 minutes. For a longer track, trim it to the part you want remixed.
- 3Pick one genre and add a detail or two: an instrument, a decade, a mood. "Acoustic, cello, 1970s folk" works better than a long list of genres.
- 4Use the tempo setting when the new genre has a pace of its own: slow for piano and soul, fast for EDM and phonk.
- 5Listen to both versions of every AI remix. They are separate takes, and one is often clearly better.
- 6Very famous recordings can be blocked by copyright filters. Songs you wrote and less-known tracks go through.
AI remix vs AI cover
The two tools change different halves of a song. An AI cover keeps the original music and swaps the singer's voice for a voice model, so you hear a character, a rapper or your trained voice sing it. An AI remix keeps the song and replaces the music: a new genre, new instruments and a new AI singer.
Pick a cover when the question is "what if this voice sang it?", and an AI song remix when it's "what if this track were phonk?" Covers made with real people's voices are for personal use only. AI remixes made with paid credits can be used commercially, as long as you have the rights to the song you upload.
FAQs about AI song remixes
Is the AI song remix free?
Each AI remix uses 15 credits, from a plan or a credit pack. New accounts get 10 free credits, enough for one cover but not a remix. If a remix fails, the credits come back automatically.
How long does an AI remix take?
Usually 1 to 3 minutes. You can leave the tab open in the background, and every remix is saved in your history.
What files can I upload?
MP3, WAV, M4A, AAC, FLAC or OGG files up to 6 minutes and 50 MB.
Why do I get two versions?
Each AI remix is generated twice from your track and settings. The two takes differ in arrangement and vocal delivery, so you can keep the one you like best, or both.
Can I make an instrumental AI remix?
Yes. Choose Instrumental under Vocals and the remix comes back with no singing, which works well as a backing track.
Will my AI remix keep the lyrics and melody?
Mostly. The AI follows the melody and the words, but it can change a word or a phrase here and there. If a version drifts too far, try the other one, or run it again.
Does the original singer's voice stay?
No. A remix is sung by a new AI voice, male or female. To hear a song sung by a particular voice, use the AI cover tool instead.
Can I remix a song into any genre?
Pick one of the 14 presets, or describe any style in up to 1,000 characters: a genre, instruments, an era or a mood.
Can I use my AI remix commercially?
Yes, if you made it with paid credits (a plan or a credit pack) and you have the rights to the song you uploaded, for example because you wrote it or licensed it. Remixing a song doesn't give you any rights to it: to release a remix of someone else's song, you need the songwriter's permission, which some distributors arrange through a cover license.
Why was my song rejected?
Some well-known recordings are blocked by copyright filters and can't be remixed. Your credits are refunded; try a song you wrote or another track.
What's the difference between an AI remix and an AI cover?
A cover keeps the original music and swaps the singer's voice for a voice model. An AI remix remakes the music in a new genre with a new AI singer. A cover uses 10 credits, a remix 15.
